Dead kid is later found to have a silver gun. Cop gets off.
fyi
Some police officers are too stupid to be considered human. This jamoke is one of them.
Crime: Pissing off Officer Judge J. N. Executioner.
Sentence: DEATH
Badge-lappers on deck in 3... 2... 1...
The Judge Dredd wannabes.
Cops. Some of them are really stupid.
THX 1138 alert!
I don’t normally assume the cop is at fault, but this, even without the “silver item” possibility, signifies an absolute moron of a cop.
Some people shouldn’t be cops.....
At the request of the St. Petersburg Times, nationally known use-of-force expert Dave Klinger, who is a retired Los Angeles police officer and now a senior research scientist at the Police Foundation in Washington, D.C., reviewed documents and videos related to the case.
It didn’t make sense to fire a Taser at Victor on the bike, said Klinger, because of the likelihood he would get hurt. Furthermore, he said, Victor was not a suspect in a serious crime.
“You don’t Taser people in circumstances that increase the likelihood of injury unless they’re a suspect for something like rape or murder,” said Klinger.

I usually back the cops but this case stinks to high heaven!
From the article it would appear that the officer had NO reason to believe the kid was armed — let alone dangerous.
Sounds like grounds for a wrongful death suit.
Unfortunately, a lawsuit won’t bring this kid back.

Very suspicious. God sees all.
The cop should have been polygraph.
Just another rare, isolated example of the 99% giving the 1% a bad name.
Stupidity, murder and felony evidence tampering. All on tape and the cop walks.
As usual.
This cop is a danger to the citizens of Pensacola. At the very least, this is negligent homicide.
I am often critical of the cops as anyone on this forum knows. This time I am not sure. As I have a dial-up modem and it is really slow tonight, I can’t watch the video so might change my mind if I did.
First of all the kid should have stopped when the cop told him to. I don’t have any problem with the cop tasering him. The kid falling under the car was a tragic accident but those things happen when you run from the cops.
The part that does bother me is the possibility of a planted gun. I remember back in the 60s a Montgomery Alabama cop shot and killed a criminal who threatened him with a knife. The cop then made the mistake of putting a throw down gun at the scene. It turned out they could trace the gun to the police evidence room.
The odd thing is the shooting was justified. The cop screwed up by planting the gun. That just might be the same type scenario here.
It sure likes a the cop planted a gun on the dead boy body. I hope one of the national cable networks picks up on this and investigates it further.
Just finished reading Serpico. Ah, for the good old days, when cops took money from gamblers instead of killing people for...anything!
According to the article, the silver item was floppy.
99.9% of cops give the other .01% a bad name.
