I saw where a fellow Freeper complimented you on your home page so curious as a cat I followed suit.
Great Catholic Family you have there.
What I was wondering is your CG daught staioned here on the west coast I think you mentioned she was up in Alaska or Washington.
Curious if she ever comes down to Station Yaquina Bay.
That is where we are and we can look across the Bay and see the CG Station.
I have always admired the community freindly/educational relationship they have here.
They face danger when saving lives at sea or on rocks that folks hike out onto not thinking the TIDE is coming in and they become stranded.
Thanks!
My daughter’s cutter is based in Seattle, at the pier right downtown. Currently they’re at sea between Guam and Hawai’i, expecting to be back to Seattle in mid-August. She hopes to get some time off before they go on another cruise in the fall.
The coastal rescue function, like at your local station, is very dangerous. The training base for that is near Seattle - we saw it on a video and it looked terrifying! My daughter is a tiny little girl - 5’1”, 110 lbs. - and could never do that kind of work. She’d like to become a gunner!
