The '55 Chevy automatic transmission was a "Powerglide" and it only had 2 gears.

Go to Turkey and purchase a new one.
To: Sporaticus
You need access to a computer.
First carefully move all the tranny parts to one side of your workbench, then go into the house and use that computer to order a decent performance transmission online. It will be delivered to your house and you can it bolt right up.
Next go back out to your workbench, look at the old tranny and ask yourself, “What was I thinking???”
