NEW YORK (AP) - One of every 15 New Yorkers battled bedbugs last year, officials said Wednesday as they announced a plan to fight the spreading infestation, including a public-awareness campaign and a top entomologist to head the effort. The bloodsucking pests, which are not known to spread disease but can cause great mental anguish with their persistent and fast-growing infestations, have rapidly multiplied throughout New York and many other U.S. cities in recent years.
Health officials and pest control specialists nationwide report surges in sightings, bites and complaints. The Environmental Protection Agency hosted its first-ever bedbug summit last year.

Or you can make your own. Some equipment and a little chemistry knowledge is all it takes. There are recipes online.
Infest their house with bed bugs and then ask them how they feel about it.
If you check forums on the internet, the ‘prevailing wisdom’ is that bedbugs are resistent to DDT, which is complete BS, but that’s how they try and talk people out of wanting it.
Trust me. When you’re under the psychological distress of a bedbug infestation, DDT is hardly a blip on the radar of worries, if you can lay your hands on some.
Here is how we ended our bed bug nightmare...
1-wash everything in hot water
2-throw everything out but clothes
3 use 90% Amonia or rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle on all baseboards/bed and bureau footing
4-let #3 dry.then duct tape base boards
5-reverse duct tape the bed footing/bureau footing so the sticky side is out (bugs try walking up get stuck)
6-wrap beds in plastic zip up covers
This worked for us but remember bed bugs can be hidden with no food or water for up to 18 months before they make an appearance....Oh I almost forgot.....
#7 Most important **beg mom and dad for a loan to replace everything you threw out*** LOL
I remember my mother telling me about a bedbug infestation they had when she was a child in the 30’s. Started when they gave shelter to a lady and her baby who were very poor and down on their luck and unbeknownst to them brought in the bed bugs in the baby blankets.
anyway....all the ladies in the neighborhood got together and rid their house of the bugs. All mattress’ and I assume furniture was taken outside into the sunshine and rubbed down with rags soaked in gasoline(apparently this killed them) also the sunshine she said killed them.
