Done that for years, for far less pay, and harder conditions than rig work. I think your employer needs to figure out why he can’t hire any young folks who can do the job. It’s obviously not that hard if a 50 year old can do it. Treeplanting, I don’t recall anyone older than 32 doing that job. Sure there were some young folks who quit, but for the most part, everyone stayed on.
I also know plenty of rig pigs among my friends. So I’m rather puzzled that your firm can’t seem to find these folks out there. Perhaps they don’t pay as much as others?
You tell me Ben.....I consider a thousand a week after taxes good money, especially in this economy. And we are 2 short right now......
BTW, I did...treeplanting when I was young (13), walnut....it sucked. And anytime you think you're man enough to step up on a 2 man swabbing rig, let me know.....everything we move around is real light and the hours are easy....I promise.......
