There are days for many others, just not Irish, so no drunken celebrations to commemorate the day.
I really was just pointing out the irony;)
Noting that the English and Scottish US immigrants; who were just as plentiful as the Irish - saw no need to celebrate their patron saints.
But your reasoning makes more sense;)
