Yes, but the more of the used to grow sweet corn is now being used to grow ethanol corn. Total corn acreage this year is down from 2008 levels. And, when it comes to corn and ethanol - it's not a food OR fuel proposition, it's food AND fuel.

It's only fuel because of massive government subsidies and mandates. And yes, I know there are subsidies for food crops as well, to which I also object. However, the ethanol subsidies dwarf any other. There also is no mandate for supermarkets to stock any vegetable product, unlike methanol mandates in gasoline. Get the government out of it and let the market work!
