Considering how many new cars are rolled out every year, it's no surprise that a few might be just plain homely. There's a chance that certain styles might become fashionable with a dash of retro hip. (Well, maybe not from the 1970s.)

It seems that the critic doesn’t like cars with square (sharp) corners. He included this one to hide his phobia IMHO.
I made it about six or seven cars in before I gave up. I bet he’s a pure delight to go car shopping with...;-)
Agreed, except for the Corvair-! They handle like a dream-! And the turbo version was spunky- Nader was WRONG in many ways-!
I saw Wartburgs like that when I visited East Germany in 1966. I went up to one to examine it closely and noticed that it was made in Eisenach, a city just east of the Iron Curtain. It was named for a local castle.
My mother had the Pacer and the Gremlin. I had the Chevette and the Toyota Van. I got the odometer up to 500,000 miles on that Toyota.
The 50 ugliest cars ever made sit on the new car showroom floors right now. Generic, egg-shaped sedans that all look alike. Blah!
Take the Ferrari logos off, park it on the street and most peoples’ first reaction would be “fiberglass kit car.” It looks like it should have an aircooled VW engine in the back. It is ugly. Take the cockpit of a Lotus Elise, festoon it with about six pontoons salvaged from Bubba’s party barge, add the schozz from a ‘75 AMC Ambassador, paint it all red, put a couple black and yellow prancing horse shields on it, and there you go.
Strange that they forgot the 1963 Daimler SP250 2 dr sports car. It looked like a pop-eyed catfish that had swallowed a Sunbeam Tiger whole.
I had one and it’s greatest virtue was the aluminum hemi-head engine. Damn thing ran like a spotted ape and was used in England for as a police pursuit car on their A routes.
I’d find a picture but I don’t know how to post it.
My Pinto wagon damn near made it to 75,000 before it tried to kill my nephew and burn the house down.
I’m glad to see a Citroën listed there, but I think they hardly qualify as cars. :)
The Nissan Cube deserves a place, certainly, but how about those other hideous box-like Ion things and such that are out there clogging the byways with their eco-ninny drivers tooling along at half the legal limit? The whole genre is butt-ugly.
And Subarus are not all that ugly (though not at all attractive either), but My-Word! their drivers are, at least in these parts. Can we have a category for cars bearing the most repulsive-looking drivers?
The Crown Vic....only driven by the Geritol crowd and cops!
Yeah, first thing I thought of was the Pacer, and sure enough it was on the list. I also agree with the modern P.T. Cruiser being on the list, although others disagree (e.g., everyone who recently bought one). Obviously a highly subjective list.
The side mirrors look a bit effete, don’t you think?
I love the pacer. I thought it was cute! Missing is the chevy maverick, that was one ugly car. These cars came into existence around the time of the jimmah cahter years.
I disagree on the Corvair. It was a very advanced car, and a fine looking one for its era. Widely imitated, even by BMW. Look at the greenhouse and the character lines on anything they made up to as late as the mid-seventies. 1st generation Corvair.
I definitely agree with some like the Gremlin, but there were a lot of really ugly cars in the mid 70’s. That Citroen Ami has to be one of the ugliest I’ve ever seen but then the French have built a lot of really ugly cars including most of the Peugeots I’ve ever seen. But I don’t think the Hummer is ugly anymore than most vehicles designed for off-road use. I think it’s really pretty tough looking.
Besides, they’re very politcally incorrect which is what’s really cool about them.
The early 1980’s Cadillac Seville with its incomplete back half. Now that was ugly!!
Bloomberg doesn’t know dick about cars. There are several classics in there, including the El Camino, the new Beetle, and the SSR.
lol..yeah probably a real bundle of sunshine.
