I was raised in Elmhurst. I wonder if my old neighborhood got flooded. I lived on the corner of Fern and Niagara.

I looked up your area on Mapquest and I don't know anyone that lives that direction to check if it flooded. Many surrounding areas to ours had water, and the viaduct was flooded up high, but that's all I know of personally. In our area, it's sad, there's a fair amount of basement furniture/etc. hauled out to the curb. We just checked our basement today. We have nothing down there except our water heater which is/was working fine (the pilot did not go out), and our dryer which is/was working as well. I mentioned to my daughter, who doesn't always support our "Amish" way of life, that if you don't have much material to begin with, you can't be sad losing it. She did a bit of an eye-roll; I would have great enormous difficulty living without electricity myself. The Amish are a hardy group.:) Are you still in Illinois?

My husband told me today that Westchester was one of the hardest hit areas. His friend who lives there had water completely fill his basement and stopped just at the main floor. While he lost things that could be replaced, he was most upset that his baseball card collection and stamp collections were ruined. What a mess!
