Ceramic sounds too yuppie and/or Chicom for me

Then I'd color you uninformed. The Egg is made in the USA.

No knock on the Weber, I've had them, they do a good job ... and granted, the egg is pricey ... but I've worked long and hard in my life, having a few high quality toys I enjoy using is one of the perks of those efforts.

In this case, the wife surprised me with it to me on my last birthday. I cook on it 3-4 nights a week now.

On a side-note, it was only the second time in 31 years she's made a large purchase without asking - the the other time was my hunting rifle. No doubt about it, I married up.

the egg sounds good for BBQ’n.

but it is a BBQ and I do charcoal grillin’ quick and rare to medium. If I ever get into real BBQ I will give it a try...(from their website:Derived from an ancient clay cooker called a “kamado,” the modern Big Green Egg has undergone many improvements since it was introduced in 1974 So I wuz right about it being Asian)

My wife wanted to buy a huge Propane grill for the deck...I said, fine, have fun using it. ‘NO!’ she said, ‘it would be for YOU to cook on’. Hell woman, you can use the range in the house if you want to cook on gas....I grill on charcoal...if you want an outdoor propane cooker have fun, I wish you the best using it...

ps:she wouldn't know what side of a rifle to put to her shoulder, so I buy my own ‘presents’ of the shooting variety.
