A grand jury investigated the case, and no one was charged. All of the grand jurors were white, as was typically the case before the passage of the landmark civil rights legislation of the mid-1960s.
He was killed AFTER it was signed.
Why?
In my vanity post yesterday-an article earlier this year about Sherrod’s Oral History interview with Ft. Valley State College said it happened in 1963, not 1965.
Why what?
Why is an investigation needed?
I’ve got your “cracker”
If Breitbart was smart, he’d be verifying everything she’s ever said.
If she’s telling the truth, a vile crime has gone unpunished all these years-there are civil and criminal actions that need to be taken.
If she’s lying or otherwise exaggerating about this, she needs to be held accountable.
Either way.
And yet the official records of Georgia deaths on Ancestry states March 25, 1965.
Can't imagine losing a father that way. How awful.
1965 is correct...
I'll be the first to admit I'm wrong if the evidence is there.
You don’t think her father was killed? Why would she lie about that?
Why, Hosie was lynched just before the time Mary Jo Kopechne was lynched by a drunken Kennedy. No charges brought then, either.
No justice back then, was there? sarc
An argument over some cows doesn’t exactly sound like a hate crime, but maybe it was. If there was a grand jury investigation, it should be a matter of public record.
I know-in the FVSU interview she said she was a college student in 1963, in the other accounts a high school student in 1965-and the Ancestry data seems to be consistent with that.
Something just seems strange about this. Albany was a main hotbed of the civil rights movement. MLK was there big time-Albany was his most egregious failure. Read about Laurie Pritchett-a man-despite thee first name. He was I believe chief of police in Albany in the early 1960s. A very smart man, he outfoxed King several times, and not through force.
Anyway, with this Charles Sherrod, whom I’ve heard of before, and with Albany as a hotbed of civil rights history-why nothing about Hosie Miller?
I need to read up more about her past. I assumed her father’s killer had been brought to justice.
I think Grand Jury proceeding are sealed.
I’m not saying she is lying. But to answer your question, are you serious?
My vanity yesterday had two, (well not “famous” because that stuff gets swept under the carpet)egregious instances of blacks claiming racial atrocities from the 1960s-one to his brother, one to his uncle-both were found to be false. There are many documented hate crime hoaxes.
It’s like the losers that claim false stuff with the Stolen Valor-fake SEAL stuff.
I was a Marine-a good Marine-no big hero. I’m proud of what I did-no need to exaggerate or lie.
Why do some guys claim hero status, medals they didn’t earn, service they didn’t do, elite units they weren’t inetc? Yet people do.
Thanks
As I mentioned, the longtime prominent black newspaper in the area should have had something about the killing-even, maybe the main newspapers in the area
