I'll bet you a hundred bucks right now that the current political order will remain intact on 1 January 2011 no matter who wins the November election. Hell, I'll bet you a hundred that nothing will happen even if they cancel the November elections.
Learn a lesson from history my friend, only 3 percent of the American colonists fought the British army...a full 25-30 percent of the colonist actively supported the Brits...and by the end of the war, more Americans were fighting on the British side than on the American side...and yet we (the Americans) still won our independence.
You are making the same fundamental mistake that they will make...thinking the 3 percent will hide and wait to be rounded up, and nothing could be further from the truth. Using your army helicopter example, it will have to land sometime, and the fuel will have to come from somewhere.
But I suspect that many people (perhaps yourself) will be like 25 percent of the colonists and support either side depending on the fortunes of war. For them, I give that great line out of the movie Sliverado..."Hide and watch."
But I tell you this: We will not go gently into that bloody collectivist good night. Indeed, we will make with our defiance such a sound as ALL history from that day forward will be forced to note, even if they despise us in the writing of it.
And when we are gone, the scattered, free survivors hiding in the ruins of our once-great republic will sing of our deeds in forbidden songs, tending the flickering flame of individual liberty until it bursts forth again, as it must, generations later. We will live forever, like the Spartans at Thermopylae, in sacred memory.

Actually, our independence was a gift from His Majesty King Louis XVI of France. During the winter of 1776-1777, Washington and the Colonials were on the ropes. The ragtag American army of armed farmers and militiamen was being murdered inch by inch by the King's regulars and his Hessian mercenaries. The events of Valley Forge are well-known examples of the dire straits Washington was in. Without the millions of livres in ammunition and other supplies provided to the fledgling United States by the King of France during that period, it's likely that the British would have defeated the Continental Army.
After the Colonials won big at Saratoga, the French formally entered the war, supplying men (including ground troops), materiel, and a large naval force, the latter of which was instrumental in bringing the British to bay at Yorktown.
So you see that whole myth of the plucky rebels who beat the Empire by firin' from behind every barn and tree stump is just that a myth. The truth is that the United States probably would have lost the war had not France and Spain, the other two global superpowers of the day, come across with men, money and supplies. The same is true today: if your rebellion can convince the Chinese to jump in on your side, you might actually have a chance of winning against FedGov. But on your own, Wolverine style? Forget it. They'll chop your forces up like hamburger. Our army is very good at fighting insurgents. They wiped out the Iraqi "freedom fighters", and those guys were as tough as camel leather. Up against weak-ass American softies it wouldn't even be a contest.
You are making the same fundamental mistake that they will make...thinking the 3 percent will hide and wait to be rounded up, and nothing could be further from the truth. Using your army helicopter example, it will have to land sometime, and the fuel will have to come from somewhere.
Yes. It will land at a secure base in the rear, on a pad guarded by heavily armed MPs and contractors with black ski masks. The fuel will come through a pipeline (similarly guarded), or in a convoy of trucks (accompanied by helicopters and AFVs.) There it will be refueled, re-armed, and will take off again to "do unto others". And by "others", I mean "the Free Republic Liberation Army", or whatever.
But I suspect that many people (perhaps yourself) will be like 25 percent of the colonists and support either side depending on the fortunes of war. For them, I give that great line out of the movie Sliverado..."Hide and watch."
If it ever comes to that, God forbid, I'm not going to be watching anything. I'm going to be down on my bony knees on a hardwood floor begging God to protect my family from the madness.
