Get real.

Now that said, I think the notion of calling the police and reporting a terrorist threat is a good one, but he seems to have pretty much done something similar. Still a second try wouldn't hurt.

He's already steeled himself to the use of deadly force to protect them. Virginia probably has reasonable laws in that regard, but he needs to check those out.

Another possibility is moving from the area. That might not be practical, but is worth thinking about. Texas definitely has reasonable laws regarding use of deadly force to protect persons, and property for that matter. Plus we've got a better economy than many states, and lots of space and places to "get lost" in. Just a thought.
