WESTMORELAND COUNTY -- Pennsylvania State Police are trying to piece together the puzzling death of a motorcyclist in Westmoreland County.
According to police reports, William Mark Amos, 47, of Export, was riding on Route 819 in Salem Township when the deer crossed into his path on Friday morning.
The bike collided with the deer about 100 yards south of Ridge Road.
But police said that Amos had a gunshot wound to the head and that a gun was also recovered at the crash scene.
Police said Amos, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Thats the only reasonable thought, but was it a poacher or is it deer season...
Too early for deer season, unless they have an early "special" season to thin the population. Most likely a poacher with really bad timing.
Yeh, I dunno. Just because we have a right to arm bears I'm not sure that makes it a good idea.
Why would that hunter leave his gun behind?
Well in my supposition the biker got shot by a hunter from across the road who was aiming at the deer. I didn't assume that the gun found at the scene was the gun used to shoot the biker. In fact I discounted that possibility.
Strange it is...to be sure. Someone above said maybe he found that he now would be in prison for DUI (based on priors) that he said...well, you know what he said...and pulled the trigger.
said that?? Gee. You dont read between the lines do you
of course I read between the lines....Sarcasm is a wonderful way to get one’s point across and my comparison between a law requiring being belted in a Hummer, and riding freely on a Harley was just that. I couldn’t agree with you more that government has far overstepped its’ authority.....But...I didn’t vote for the idiots who passed these asinine regulations. That having been said, seat belts and air bags save lives.....helmets would too, I just don’t appreciate the government protecting me from myself.
