My local fishwrapper (owned by the NY Slimes) had an article today by AP National Writer Paul Newberry. The title is “’People’s champ’ eyes an Open title.” It’s about Phil Mickelson.

From the title, I guess Newberry is saying that Michelson is the white people’s champion since he casts aspersions on Tiger Woods in the article.

One of my old students stopped in to see me a little while ago.

She was a student at St. Andrews University. From the window of her study she had a beautiful view of the course.

She told me they often allowed the students to use the course.

I watched some of the action today, but I’m not much of a golf expert.

I was fascinated by the way the course looked. Some of the holes even share greens, and the sand traps with stone walls is insane!

I think I’m going to watch more of this event. Between the crazy course, the potentially nasty weather and so many golfers posting low scores today, it looks to be interesting.
