PUBLIC SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK 0415 AM CDT WED JUL 14 2010
...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED OVER PARTS OF THE UPPER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT...
THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER IN NORMAN OK IS FORECASTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF TORNADOES...LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS OVER PARTS OF THE UPPER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.
THE AREAS MOST LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE THIS ACTIVITY INCLUDE
CENTRAL AND EASTERN MINNESOTA WESTERN AND NORTHERN WISCONSIN
A BROAD CURRENT OF WARM AND VERY HUMID AIR WILL MOVE NORTH ACROSS MUCH OF MINNESOTA AND WISCONSIN TODAY...ON THE EASTERN SIDE OF THE LOW. AS DAYTIME HEATING OCCURS WITHIN THIS FLOW...AND THE JET STREAM WINDS STRENGTHEN ALOFT...CONDITIONS WILL BECOME FAVORABLE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF LONG-LIVED ROTATING THUNDERSTORMS CALLED SUPERCELLS.
WHILE SOME SEVERE STORMS MAY OCCUR ANYTIME BETWEEN NOW AND EARLY THURSDAY FROM PARTS OF THE CENTRAL PLAINS TO THE UPPER GREAT LAKES...THE GREATEST RISK OF SEVERE WEATHER LIKELY WILL DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE TONIGHT ACROSS FROM CENTRAL AND EASTERN MINNESOTA INTO WESTERN AND NORTHERN WISCONSIN. THESE STORMS WILL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE STRONG TORNADOES...IN ADDITION TO SWATHS OF VERY DAMAGING WIND AND LARGE HAIL.
STATE AND LOCAL EMERGENCY MANAGERS ARE MONITORING THIS DEVELOPING SITUATION. THOSE IN THE THREATENED AREA ARE URGED TO REVIEW SEVERE WEATHER SAFETY RULES AND TO LISTEN TO RADIO...TELEVISION...AND NOAA WEATHER RADIO FOR POSSIBLE WATCHES...WARNINGS...AND STATEMENTS LATER TODAY.

As I was walking out to my bus stop today, I could feel the humidity in the air. But it felt different - almost like there were definitely gonna be big storms later today.

Nothing expected for southern Michigan today. Hot hot hot
Usually when they start warning us 3 days ahead of time it doesn’t pan out but looks like they got this one right. I hear the rumbling out there right now.
Can’t wait for the Twinkies to make it to the World Series...baseball should be played in a blizzard....BTW..have you been to the new ballpark. From what I’ve seen on the tube, it looks awesome..visiting players all love it...
We had the popcorn thundershowers all day yesterday.
They just formed overhead and didn’t really move. They just rained themselves out in 20 minutes or so and then start building again.
As a Hennepin County resident, I don’t like paying for it.
I dislike even more the fact that I was denied the right to vote (in a referendum) as to whether I wanted to be taxed for it or not.
This was a project that could have and should have been financed entirely in the private sector.
Time to batten down the hatches again. sigh
Big red line about 15 minutes away and I have an appointment in 15 minutes. Dang.
We’re about to have the same debate here in Tampa..the Rays want a new stadium...and no way in hell the gummint should pay one red cent..
Went to the 1st night game there. Great ballpark (with great subsidies):
MINNESOTA TWINS GET ANOTHER SUBSIDY
Nearly 2,000 beer swilling, brat eating fans pack themselves onto the train for each and every home game for which this subsidized service is available. In fact, extra cars have been added to meet the demand after busses were called in before one game to quell the civil unrest that nearly broke out when disappointed fans at the Fridley station learned there was no more room on the train for them and there would be no riding the roof or hanging on the sides of the train. This isn’t Bangladesh, after all.
Now, train service is being added for more games and bus service is being added to carry Saint Cloud-based fans down to Big Lake, which will undoubtedly make for less room for Fridley-based fans.
If only the train was as popular when it comes to its intended purpose - transporting commuters to and from work for the ostensible purpose of relieving congestion on Highway 10 during the rush hours.
