I do not know if it is true, but one report stated that those tapes were made six months ago. If true, releasing them would be for reasons other than protection.
Mel needs about 6 months of rehab to dry out and think straight. I actually listened to the tapes.
He’s screaming...ranting...raving...cursing.
If he sobers up, maybe then a judge will allow him to visit the baby.
If he sobers up, he might get over this woman and move on.
I also think he could commit suicide unless he gets help.
I think you may be right. The whole thing seems fishy to me. I’m not going to jump on the “let’s crucify Mel Gibson” bandwagon... I do think he needs serious help, and he needs prayer.

But to those who are criticizing this woman for releasing this tape,
She let slip in court that she had made them. The judge issued a restraining order that she was NOT to release them. And why then make them public? For the purpose of humiliation. An article already said the police have copies. And she has now violated a restraining order.
I would argue that Nicole Brown Simpson may well be alive today if she had released any similar tapes.
Melodrama. These tapes were made in January. She has since gone to Russia with him. What woman that's fearful does that? AND calmly makes tapes and DOESN'T call the police for 6 months? AND offers to sell them to him?
He has said he’s bipolar. He needs to quit self-medicating with alcohol and actually take meds. And yeah, he needs prayer.
If she released them simply to prove to the World that this guy is deranged- and he is- that’s good enough for me.
Two separate issues.
If she violated a court order, punish her.
She may be a terrible person, hell, it's likely just from the fact that she took up with this loon.
None of that diminishes the now very obvious fact that Mel Gibson is a drunk who also may mentally ill....and possibly dangerous.
Tell me, why release them to gossip sites? And 6 months AFTER the events. The police already have them. This isn't about protecting herself. This is about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

No, I am not defending Mel G. I turned against him long ago and for something far worse that what is in your rant, something you failed to mention: the betrayal of his family. Incredibly stupid of Mel G. to have gotten involved with such a lowlife woman. Those two deserve each other.
