When the schadenfreude-licious Alvin Greene won the Democrat nomination for senate in South Carolina, the ever delusional Representative James Clyburn (D-SC) accused Republicans of funding Alvin Greene as a plant to ensure Senator Jim DeMints reelection. Yes, that Jim DeMint. The one who would clearly and soundly trounce any Democrat opponent without trickery of any sort by relying on his policy ideas and sound judgment.
Said Clyburn:
The motive could very well be to embarrass the Democratic party. This could be embarrassing if we do not get it worked out. Or this could be someone who wanted to ensure a victory [for incumbent Sen. Jim DeMint], Clyburn said.
Clyburn concluded there is a great possibility that someone paid for him to run and tampered with the machines.
So, an investigation commenced because, really, South Carolina doesnt have anything better to do with its law enforcement budget, apparently. The investigation has just been completed and guess who funded Alvin Greene?
We, the taxpayers did. He paid his own fee from money he had received in military benefits and from unemployment checks he has been collecting. As Erick Erickson at RedState points out, the very same unemployment benefits that Democrats themselves are continuously extending .
Via Hot Air:
Alvin Greene, the obscure jobless man whose come-from-nowhere victory in the June Democratic primary for U.S. Senate created a national furor, had legitimate sources of income to pay his $10,400 primary entry fee, law enforcement sources said Friday.
He will not, according to SLED, face criminal deception charges for requesting a taxpayer funded attorney in a still pending criminal case against him.
The source of Greenes money is none other than the U.S. government and the S.C. state government, said SLED director Reggie Lloyd.
Greene had received almost $6000 from his military discharge, and another $3000 from tax refunds. He also had a few thousand dollars in his bank account before that, and had been receiving $1100 per month in jobless benefits. Greene lives with his father, so his expenses are low just haircuts and groceries, as SLED put it.
Alvin Greene not only has super keen job creation ideas, but he knows how to budget and save money! Better than most Democrats, Id say.
In the end, I suppose Rep. Clyburn was correct. It certainly is embarrassing. For Democrats.
On WABC radio show right now.
Green says he used his Army money.
He’s as laconic as ever.
Alvin is my hero. He’s wrapping failure in a fur coat.
He’s honest. Keeps to a budget.
Lightyears ahead of other Dems.
Boohoohahaaha now that is funny!
Not buying it.
Alvin hung up after the “Were you caught fondling goats testicles in college” question. Nasty humor.
The trouble, perhaps, we’ll see, with over the top harassment like this radio show, is it validates Alvin as a human.
In other words what will the young editor of the National Review do when Alvin wins?
My mistake — meant “Human Events” not National Review.
People are always saying they want public funding of campaigns — well, there you go...
Alvin Greene seems to be a clean guy. I guess he’s not articulate enough. /s
Should have saved a couple thousand for a teleprompter. He could ask his dad to type in junk for him to read. He could have used thread responses from some of the geniuses on this here forum. I’d vote for the stupid sonofabitch my very own godam self. Cheers.
I’ll take genuinely inarticulate over fake any day.
Amazing. The press and lib thugs can get inside this guys finances in a matter of days, but they’ve yet to turn up or even question the where abouts of ANY of deOne’s records/papers, etc.
>> Ill take genuinely inarticulate over fake any day.
I agree.
There are few things uglier than arrogance mocking another’s basic inabilities - an indulgence of punk journalism.
I want an "Alvin Greene for U.S. Senate" T-shirt.
Shame he's not running in a state where a democrat senator is a foregone conclusion. I really think he'd bring some much needed unintentional comic relief to those hallowed chambers.
I find the guy inspiring, really. He had the balls to go out and give something a try, something outrageous, and heck, he did it! As I said before, because of this guy, in a few years, I might give it a try too!
An out-of-nowhere guy like this who wins a senate primary should be an inspiration to others.
This should give those running against incumbents encouragement and heartburn to the likes of Barbara Boxer.
By now, I think a lot of people can see November from their house!
This is not good news. An honest Democrat that understands budgets and finances is a real threat - particularly to a lot of Washington Republicans.
