I guess the same question you asked of basketball can be asked of any sports — Tennis, Soccer, Baseball, Football, etc.

For that matter, we can ask the same question of people who do nothing but play make believe on screen.

For that matter, let’s extend the question even further — why do we pay millions to executives who gamble with investment money and then when they lose, ask taxpayers to bail their bankrupt companies out ?

Spending the entirety of your life worrying about Obama/the Gulf/ politics/ etc. is no way to live.

I refuse to allow my time, my thoughts and my world to revolve around Barack Obama. I refuse to spend my days and nights panicked, despondent or angry. If Obama is, in fact, going to bring the world to an end ... I’d hate to spend my last days thinking about him.

There is a time and a place for politics, and a time and a place for other more enjoyable endeavors.
