Just my observation...but graduates of a community college aren’t the same-level as a full up four-year university. I’ve been in both atmospheres...and most community colleges are geared toward a technical expertise deal and a much cheaper way to get a degree (which I have no problem with myself...I think half the kids in four-year programs are wasting their time).

No argument with your conclusions; just not sure how they apply to the original topic.

My Dad, who grew up in the Depression, only finished 8th grade, but he would have made a far better governor or president than many we’ve had.

Perhaps the kids in my area are just stupid. It has taken both of my kids 5 years to complete the necessary work for a degree at a “full up four-year university” and from conversations with other parents, I understand this is the new normal.

As an aside, neither of my sons has pursued a career in the field in which they received a degree. One abandoned plans to attend law school and is currently self employed in the craft brewing industry (making a killing too, lol) the other is currently taking classes at a “community college” to gain some marketable skills in the job market. Apparently that degree in Art History isn’t bringing in the job offers he had hoped for. He needs employment in order to finance his one true passion, writing poetry, which he has been doing since he was a child so he didn’t learn how to do that in college.
