Operation Blue Rage: Day Eleven of the Mediterranean Patrol

Friday, June 18th, 2010
Location: Off the Coast of Libya

Report by Captain Paul Watson, Steve Irwin

Steve Irwin and Arctic Sunrise
The dawn, hazy with the fine blown sand of the Sahara desert, found us without any pursuing tail from the Libyan and Maltese Navies, and so we continued our patrol.

We encountered the Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise heading Southwest towards the coordinates of the cage we liberated yesterday. We changed course to intercept them with the intention of communicating with them, but they turned around and fled from us at full speed. We followed and we were able to catch up with them around 1630 Hours.

It was actually quite nice to have the two ships together and as we closed in on them a pod of dolphins appeared and began riding the bow waves of both the Sea Shepherd ship Steve Irwin and the Greenpeace ship Arctic Sunrise. My fellow Greenpeace co-founder, the late Bob Hunter, would have surely taken that as a sign for us to work together.

The Arctic Sunrise radioed us and asked what our intentions were and we said we were simply doing a photo-op, and by the way how about joining us to come save the fish.

Arctic Sunrise, this is the Steve Irwin. We’ve located a cage with about 800 illegal fish in it and this will be a wonderful opportunity for our two organizations to work together,” said Steve Irwin First Officer Locky MacLean.

After a moment’s hesitation, the captain of the Arctic Sunrise Joel Stewart radioed back and simply said, “That’s a negative.”

“Ok,” said Locky, “Arctic Sunrise, thanks for the photo-op, have a great day. We’re off to save some fish.”

It was evident that the Arctic Sunrise did not want an aerial shot of our two ships together side-by-side so they began to go in circles to prevent it. However, the superior speed of the Steve Irwin allowed us to get the picture and then we broke off.

There is not a premier episode this week, but since I was traveling last Friday it all works out.

Got it.

What gets me is the ubiquitous ad that has head whalehugger saying that are the crew members willing to risk their lives for the whales.

Whenever I hear someone say something like that, the first thought should be “you first.”

I love whales, but just damn.

No problem. I try to change up the thread every week so it won’t get boring. A few weeks ago I put up the descriptions of ships and weapons the Sea Shepherds use. This week I added excerpts from their Larry King Live interview.

We're trying to teach our kids that lesson. My little girl loves playing with the baby pigs when she goes to see Gramps. But whenever my wife serves pork chops she lets out a gleeful "Piggy!" and dives right in. She understands that animals can be cute and taste good too.

Sitting at dinner one evening the younger daughter stated, I don’t want to know its name I just want to know what kind of meat it is:)

What is the status of the guy that was arrested by the Japanese for assault?

It doesn’t look like there has been any news since June 10th when prosecutors asked for a 2 year sentence. He pled guilty to three other charges but not the assault charge.

Wonder how much each of these cultists have to pay to waste fuel like this?

They get their money from the television show and saps like Bob Barker, who gave them $5,000,000 to buy and refit a second ship last year. They appear to have several other big money donors like Ady Gil, who donated much of the money to buy the ill-fated Earthracer.

You can bet every one of those deckhands pay a ton from their daddy’s to go worship the whales. Boy do I wish the Japs had a torpedo.

My favorite was the quote from Season 1 "We get three vegan meals a day!"

I couldn't last thirty minutes on a vegan diet. Give me some STEAK AND CHICKEN!!! I don't think I would eat whale though, not a big fan of fish, although I love shrimp and lobster.

I still want to know how Paul Watson got so fat on a vegan diet. WTF is he just eating Ben & Jerry's? Or is he against ice cream cuz it hurts the poor cows?

I'm sad I'm missing the show next week, I am actually going to see real whales in Alaska than see the whale known as Paul Watson on TV.

But Pan_Yan, I really can see why you call this "Hippies Failing Badly". Boy are you right on. It's like taking Somalians and putting them on the space station and tell them to make things work.

It's fun to see incompetent hippies, continue to make fools of themselves on national television. Then go cry to the media when the Japs retaliate.

Gotta love liberals in action!
