I've seen LOTS of people use the same slur regularly here in New York City alone. I wonder why ABC considers this to be newsworthy...

Mel used the N word. I guess that entitles her to millions of his $$. [/s]

apparently using an expression that is deeply insulting to African Americans.

Apparently not, since they casually use it on each other all the time.

They'll never forgive this guy for making his movie, will they.

Some political books recount Bill/Hillary tirades in which —between the lamps thrown— she’d lambaste him as, “J*w N*gger”.

I...had never heard that slur b4.

Anyone who has seen his movies shouldn’t be surprised that he’s got anger issues.

Seems like some kind of warning shot - "remember what we did to Gibson, here's a reminder."

After all, Gore is being destroyed at the moment from the re-opening of a years-old criminal complaint. When Clinton people are tagged, they usually tag back if only to show they still can.

If he was black and had said “cracker” or “honky” or “redneck”.........no one would give a s**t.

So....I don’t give a s**t what he says in a private conversation with this wench. Neither should any of you.

How about those Black Panthers in Philly calling the Caucasion-Americans “Cracker” and “Whitey”? Those aren’t terms of endearment.

I think everyone should just put duct tape on their mouth and never talk at all. That way no one would ever be insulted. There, problem solved.

I find Gibson’s candor refreshing.

I’ll get real worked up over this after ABC does a retrospective on the racial diatribes of the “Revs.” Jackson, Sharpton, and Jeremiah Wright.

Not before.

Gibson quoted the lyrics from a rap song. Give him a pass.

“Celebrity news website Radaronline.com Thursday published excerpts of an audiotape of Gibson telling Oksana Grigorieva, whom “The Passion of the Christ” director is battling in court, that they way she is dressed made her look like a “pig in heat.””
.
“Gibson, a staunch Catholic, made headlines worldwide in 2006 for a drunk driving arrest in Malibu during which he launched into an anti-Semitic tirade that shocked Hollywood.”
.
Well, I don’t countenance anything Gibson might have done that he is reported to have done here, but you do have to wonder when these two details of Gibson’s career and personal life are invariably included in any news report of his bad behavior. He’s made scads of movies, but they mention only TPOTC. His being “a staunch Catholic” has nothing directly to do with this incident, but they felt it important to point it out (how often do they mention the religion of other celebrity bad boy/girl in these kinds of stories?).
.
Maybe it’s just me, but it does sound like some unusual subtle editorializing to take irrelevant digs at Gibson, his religiously inspiring movie and his Catholicism.

I don’t recall Sandra Bernhardt receiving this much publicity after she said the same thing about Gov. Palin. Maybe someone should ask Kelly McGillis what she thinks of the subject.

an audiotape of Gibson telling Oksana Grigorieva... that the way she is dressed made her look like a "pig in heat." "If you get raped by a pack of n***ers, it will be your fault," Radaronline reported Gibson as shouting at Grigorieva during an argument
