Hmmm, I don't know, except that maybe I MENTIONED IT MYSELF IN THE POST YOU REPLIED TO!
The antenna is near the top of the phone, something you've intimated could not work (government weasel speak and all).
No, I said that the government regulations encourage them to be moved away from the head, which would be the bottom. If you don't, as I said, you have to make certain concessions.
Just curious if you'll ever admit they actually screwed up on this design
Hmmm, I don't know, except that I ALREADY DID! I even used the word "screw-up" to describe it. Of course I'm starting to wonder now, since it can't be reliably replicated on even a majority of phones, maybe it's just a manufacturing error.
Your reading comprehension and memory is well below even your low standards today.
I don't think you really understand it, otherwise you wouldn't make the criticism you do, and blame government regulations for forcing location. Seems all others are able to get around these SAR requirements without placing an external antenna in the very place Apple's own marketing shows you to hold it.
Shielding planes can be added to PCBs, it can be thin aluminum foil or screen (adding, at most 0.5 to 1 gram), and can even be a conductive material or paint added to the plastic housing.
You do not need 'heavy and thick' shielding to be effective.
I even used the word "screw-up" to describe it.... Your reading comprehension and memory is well below even your low standards today.
Can you show me the phrase "screw-up" in your post, please? I do believe my reading comprehension is fine, and I'll gladly accept your apology since you will not find the words "screw up" in your post 115, which is where your latest tirade began.
I really wish you Macolytes would quick stirring the pot of threads started not by those of your own church...;)
if so, I wonder if the Droid's growing popularity pressured Apple to Release IP4 before it was ready?
I don't think you understand. You act as if I don't know what shielding is when replying to a post where I mention shielding. How obtuse can you be?
Can you show me the phrase "screw-up" in your post, please?
I'm not doing this for you. Your lack of reading comprehension and memory will not cost me more time. All I will tell you is that I posted it directly to you on an earlier thread on this subject, so look back through your history.
You act like shielding is all big, bulky and heavy; my evaluation of your statement leads me to believe you know OF shielding, just not what IS shielding. The fact that - especially at RF frequencies - it can be very lightweight, thin, and actually exist even in the paint itself means your reasons to discount shielding aren't technically sound.
So yes, you know shielding exists, but my conclusion is you know little if nothing beyond that, such as how it is implemented, what effect it has given material density, conductivity and placement, etc.
I'm not doing this for you. Your lack of reading comprehension and memory will not cost me more time. All I will tell you is that I posted it directly to you on an earlier thread on this subject, so look back through your history.
I see. So you make the charge, claim I am ignorant and cannot read, yet cannot back your charge up, and cannot point out the words to me in this thread. And because you cannot validate your charge I am at fault.
It must be a veritable rose garden when you're done squatting on the toilet, eh antiRepublicrat?
You were condescending, pretending I didn't know about shielding in a post where I mentioned shielding. There is a problem about shielding other than cost and weight. These phones have signal-blocking electronics on the front face, and most of top back is against your head. Should you add weight and bulk to shield between your head and the phone, that doesn't leave much room for the signal to get out, does it?
So you make the charge, claim I am ignorant and cannot read
Ignorant is pretty well established. After that it's either lack of comprehension or memory problems. You made the claim that you cannot back up, insinuating that I would never admit a screw-up on Apple's part. And it was not restricted to this thread, but this issue, about which there has been more than one thread. Okay, here goes, post to you, last line:

Never call me an Apple fanboi or fanatic again. It is documented that I criticize or praise Apple depending on what is deserved. I do deserve the right to counter FUD and falsehood spewed by Apple-haters.
Well it is apparent you don't understand shielding, and radiation patterns. I simply point to all other cell phones - with internal antennas, often mounted at the top of the phone - as proof it can be done without adding weight or bulk.
It's not the "government regulations" that forced the antenna issue with the iPhone 4; that was strictly on the shoulders of Apple. Your attempt to deflect notwithstanding.
Okay, here goes, post to you, last line:
Yes "just" a screw up, and a post from a week ago. I try not to memorize your ramblings over the last week, regardless of your belief of self-importance. Thank you for posting the link, fanboi...;)
Your criteria: "Just curious if you'll ever admit they actually screwed up on this design"
Me, long before you posted that: "That was just a screw-up."
Time for your apology. Or you could just keep weaseling. I know, try using "I said 'screwed up' and you only said 'screw-up' so it doesn't count." That seems to be about at your level of honesty.
And I assume you'll apologize for calling me an HTC/EVO pimp, since I do not own an EVO nor do I have an Android phone?
But as to before it's ready, no. On the contrary, Apple is known to delay a product because it isn't ready. Steve Jobs, unlike most CEOs, doesn't have to worry about his job if one missing launch date hurts the quarterlies.
Forgot to mention, Apple has released a new iPhone once a year since inception. This is right on track, pretty much to the month.
How Democrat of you. That's not the issue. It is acknowledging that I readily admit when Apple screws up, contrary to your assertion otherwise.
And I assume you'll apologize for calling me an HTC/EVO pimp, since I do not own an EVO nor do I have an Android phone?
You do own an HTC, and you did pimp the EVO in an area where it couldn't even compete (and then tried to Google up some software to save yourself, but, alas, you only found vaporware and a cropping tool).
Which goes to show you they were more worried about releasing on time than releasing a top-notch product. It happens all companies make mistakes. The real question is how do they handle it? And do they learn from their mistakes.
From the company that delayed the iPad for over five years, I can't see it. Also remember, Jobs is the guy whose team bought him a rubber stamp of "THIS IS SH**" so he could save on writing when constantly rejecting their design ideas. The original iPhone almost didn't come out when it did, because months before the release he sent the design team back to the drawing board.
It happens all companies make mistakes. The real question is how do they handle it? And do they learn from their mistakes.
I'd say true, as well as most companies, and true. One thing for sure, Jobs needs to stop replying directly to emails. He spouted off before his engineers even had a chance to see what the deal was. He's an arrogant SOB with a monster ego. That helps in many ways, like refusal to ship a product unless it has some WOW! factor, thus seriously pushing innovation. But it can hurt in others, such as customer support.
I didn’t say he didn’t have the wow factor in and that’s why he will push back. But it wasn’t tested fully and it was most likely because they needed to make their bottomline and the projections.
It’s big business apple isn’t a “small” company anymore somewhere along the way small companies loose their heart and soul. I think this is an indication of it for Apple.
