What absolutely amazes me is how many sheep think they must submit to a search WITHOUT Probable Cause. Once you purchase goods they are your property to take home. Now if the merchant has actual evidence you have in fact stolen from them that is an entirely different matter all together and yes management or loss prevention should restrain someone stealing even with force if needed. But to search every ones private property leavuing with purchased items? No and no one should have to submit to being treated that way.

If people complained to COSTCO as they should then the policy would likely end. More and more people have become willing subjects to be treated as assumed criminals by both government and private businesses until proved innocent. In the mean time a shop lifter is going to walk out of the store with several hundred dollars on their person or use an emergency exit to carry more obvious merchandise out and run like mad to a waiting vehicle. How do they get past the front door? If you don't have a purchased item then no line right?

I can see way too many people here do NOT know what they are talking about. Costco is a membership club and you agree to the receipt check when you pay your dues.

If this bothers you, then don’t join.
