Am I missing something here? What exactly about her situation entitled her NOT to wait in line with the other customers? Had she checked with them all and confirmed that they were in the “not in a hurry” line before she tried to duck out the side exit?
Costco and Sam’s Club both have those reciept checking policies, and she must have known this before she stepped a toe in Costco that day.
Did I miss the part where she couldn’t wait in line with the other customers becuase she was rushing out to the parking lot to give CPR to the endearing old grandpa while she helped the labrador retriever deliver all those cute lil’ puppies?
Yikes. Get over yourself and wait in the line. If you’re that pushed for time don’t stop at Costco that day.
I haven't been to either of those places, but the last time I went to Walmart, they had a receipt checker. I paid for the merchandise, it was mine, and I refuse to be held hostage by some store bureaucrat. She attempted to get my attention, to no avail. I haven't gone back.
I'm surprised no one called the cops on this customer; however, I agree with others who state it was absolutely totally inappropriate for the Door Lady to grab the woman's purse.
8 people in line , it takes 10 seconds to check each one tops.
The lady should have been tasered for shoplifting.
The issue is not whether a store has a receipt checking policy but whether you have already contractually agreed to it. These are membership clubs and in your membership agreement that you sign you pre-agreeto allow them to check the receipt....
Regardless, the agreement doesn’t give them the right to assault or detain her. The stores recourse is to cancel their membership and refuse them further admittance.
Now, stores like Best Buy and Fry’s that want to check your receipt and look in your bag are different. They have no right....I routinely refuse to let them inspect my bag or see my receipt....Once I pay for the mechandise at the register it is mine just like any other personal possession.
LOL, my kids won’t shop with me when I go to those stores....
Good one! Actually after the "rush" she goes and sits in her car for 5 minutes - so the CPR thing was obviously out...
She was in such a hurry that she sat in the parking lot for 5 minutes and then looked up the number for Costco.
Not buying her story as she would have been on her way quicker if she had simply got in the exit line.
