I lived in Newport Beach in the late 70’s when it was a white upper middle class enclave. By the time I returned in the mid-80s it had become heavily laden with Iranians; presumably other Middle Easterners settled in the area over the years. I find it appalling that these people who sought refuge in the US assume such a hostile attitude to their gracious host communities.

It still is. UC Irvine is a different country these days. Kind of like the Arizona border of academia.
