I’m with you mate . Even explored Muswell Hill , The Kinks home turf in North Londow , several times on visits to London in the 70’s and early 80’s . Here is another blast from the past .

Never heard a Kinks song I didn't like. Wore out a vinyl album or two. Loved their tunes all day, and all of the night, and I say that as a well-respected man about town.

RIP.

Huge fan right from the outset ,but have to admit that some of the covers on their first 3-4 albums were , well , slightly embarrassing , particulary on their first US release .

One of my all time favorite bands as well. Dave Davies issued a very heartfelt statement on his facebook page.

From Dave Davies via his website :

I am overwhelmed with emotion- I literally can’t speak- we might never have done any of this without him- Pete was right there at the very beginning - he was a friend and a brother to me-family- me and Pete never argued about anything -WE knew - and he really got it-ALL of it-I Loved him so much- In my naivety I kind of thought we would work again together- - I am shocked beyond words - without Pete there would have been NO Kinks- we went to school together and shared the best times, growing up- we learnt music together as we went along , he was a great musician -you could always trust his playing, creative input, intuitive response to musical ideas-and we taught each other riffs and ideas and shared a common bond of Love, Loyalty and deep friendship-I am in a state of complete disbelief- I knew he was ill - but his cheeky inteligence and optimistic nature would make any one believe that he would Live forever- and in a way Peter Alexanda Greenlaw Quaife you will live in my heart and inner being FOREVER- God Bless you Pete- dear sweet generous - mad and Unique friend- I will never be the same-And I thank God for knowing and working with you - that you enriched and Blessed my LIfe with your sense of fun. wit, intelligence and passion; and optimism- A True musician- a True artist and an immensely gifted Man full of Life and Love -who was never really given the credit he deserved for his contribution and involvlement - - I Love You Pete ! The Kinks were never really the Kinks without you......

All my Love
Dave Davies

Thank you for that, Sushiman.

You can probably tell from my sig line that I am a bass player.

The first music I ever played either on guitar or bass was the music of the Kinks.

Every band I was ever in, whether we did covers or originals, blues or rock or general biz, always did the Kinks songs.

I saw all those YouTube Videos the FIRST time they were on TV.

This is like losing a part of my life.

Oddly, I feel it more then when George Harrison passed away. The Kinks’ Music was much more fun to play than the Beatles, so I felt closer to the Kinks.

Has Ozzy Osbourne or Keith Richards died yet?

Maybe we should have an FR Dead Pool. Everyone post their own list of publicly prominent people who they think will pass on from this world. At the end of the year who ever gets the most correct wins!

I’m with ya man ..born in 1952 . I’m a drummer BTW ...Every band I was ever in did a Kinks cover ! And I was in my first band in 1965 ! Hey- I remember Shindig and Hullabaloo , too ! hehe...Every time my Mom would go shopping in the 60’s the first thing I would do is head for the record section to see if a new Kinks album was out !
