VIRGINIA BEACH A man was shot outside of a Virginia Beach club early this morning, and sources have said that the incident occurred at a birthday party for NFL star Michael Vick.

Here in Philthadelphia, they just announced on the news last week he’s supposed to be the starting QB for next season.
No, I’m not sure .. just read a quick summary from when he was released. It said he was in federal custody thru 7/20/09. There probably is an additional probationary period. And he apparently served 19 months, not 21.
Agreed. The other thing about Vick’s style of play is that it’s so unorthodox that the offense has to be designed around him. When this fact is combined with the fact that Vick has been a major headache off the field, why take the chance?
WTKR-Channel 3 in Virginia Beach is reporting that a man was shot outside a club during a birthday celebration for Michael Vick.
From WTKR.com
Several people who attended the party say that the non-fatal shooting outside Guadalajara, in the 4600 block of Columbus Street in the Town Center of Virginia Beach, occurred at one of a handful of birthday celebrations for Vick last night. Adam Bernstein, spokesman for Virginia Beach police, declined to comment on whether the event at the club was connected to Vick.
The shooting occurred around 2:10 a.m. Bernstein said a fight broke out as the club was closing, and one man was shot. He said the victim had initially declined medical treatment, but he was eventually transported to a local hospital to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening. There was no information on suspects, and Bernstein said the victim and witnesses were “uncooperative.”
I heard it was a heated argument over whether or not “The House of Mirth” was Edith Wharton’s greatest book......Vick then tossed in the viewpoint-considered a non sequiter by the other gentleman, that the novels of Willa Cather displayed, overall, far better plotting, not to mention thematic and character development, than any of Wharton’s body of work-and the fight was on.

Replace the N.F.L. with rollerball.
“I hope the NFL completely crumbles.”
So we can all sit around on those cold winter afternoons watching re-runs of Obama speeches?
Now that you mention it, yes, I’m sure that was it.
Yeah, I want to have a birthday party where instead of coffee and cake and standing around in quiet conversation there is trash talking ... and gun play.
You know those literature aficianados......
Faux Mexican food.
Nice!!
You don’t know sure. They could have been discussing competing theories of the migrating habits of native sea turtles in Brazil.
Vick is an absolute sociopath and menace to society. The sooner he’s reincarcerated, the better it will be for society.
I finally found a story that details his sentence. It was tough to find, which speaks to how unreliable our media is. The story may be found here.
As suspected, the sentence did include probationary time, three years. As such, Vick is still clearly on probation and will be until some time in 2012. Also, Vick was facing additional VA state charges stemming from that same dog-killing fiasco. He plead guilty to those charges, and his sentence - which I was unable to find - was suspended. That means, he's on some kind of probation, either supervised or unsupervised with the state of VA, as well.
The police wouldn't comment on the question of Vick being present at the party, which is police-talk for "we're building a case". Vick is proof that money can't buy your way out of stupid - a commodity Vick possesses in spades.
I looked just now online to confirm it, but didn’t see anything either, except a fair amount of local bloggers who are for that. Sorry about that. Thanks for setting me straight.
Hell, the sportscaster I heard might very well have said “Will Vick start?” as a question or “Should Vick start next year?” as a teaser line before sports came on later in the broadcast. I know I heard that. It caught my ear, but not enough for me to stick around and wait 15 minutes for the story. (I’m a Browns fan, anyway-so I’ve got my own heartaches...)
Guess I’m guilty of passing on half-baked info-although, like I said, I heard something along that line on TV last week-hey, nothing that a team who is dumb enough to pick up that dog torturing POS does would totally surprise me.
I couldn’t find anything online to support that, although there is some speculation as recent as late May 2010. Can you provide confirmation?
damn right jpl. the savage vick is just one more TCBE.
Ya think?
In our most recent item regarding The Summer of Vick, The Sequel, we explained that the question of whether he had direct or indirect involvement in the reported shooting of former Bad Newz Kennels associate Quanis Phillips has far less relevance than the apparent fact that Vick was in the same place as Phillips.
And while this rekindled association, if true, could jeopardize Vick's status with the federal government and the National Football League, the mere whiff of a problem could be enough to get the Eagles to cut the cord.
For now, the team hasn't said much of anything. Per Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the team issued the following statement: "We are aware of the incident that occurred in Virginia early this morning and are in the process of gathering all of the facts. Until then, we will not have any comment on this matter."
