Believe me this has nothing to do with soccer officials,
it has all to do with the people who love this sport.
If you believe it or not most people (ok maybe outside of the US) are perfect happy with this rules.
I do not know anyone who would want to change them.
(and i know a lot of soccer fans).
So don´t fix whats not broken.
And for most of the world there is nothing “broken”
because of the simple fact that they like the sport and the rules
exactly how they are.
You may find the rules unfair or whatever.
But people here don´t think this way.
They love this game the way it is played (and this includes
the referees and other things you criticize).

I'll take your word for it, but why in the world would fans want refs deciding their games so often rather than the game itself?
What you say makes little sense. It's not the rules, it's the officials.
I wonder, do they evaluate which officials will do the remaining matches, based on their performance in the group stage?
