You're entitled to your opinion, but you're not entitled to your own facts. The fact is that in a sport with only 1 or 2 scores a game, a bad call on a goal affects the outcome to a degree that is not present in many other sports. That level of influence makes soccer more like figure skating or gymnastics. Heck, the ref doesn't even have to tell anyone what his call was. In football when there's a penalty, the ref stands alone and tells the entire crowd what the call was and even the number of the player who did it.
Part of the American character. much of what made us successful, was an unwillingness to accept "good enough" or "that's just the way things are." Having traveled fairly extensively throughout the rest of the world, I've come to realize how powerful and unique that attitude is.
I guess accepting things as they are means one is rarely disappointed.
Yes i´m a big soccer fan (i´m european btw. maybe this
explains this ;-).
But again i have to dissagree.
My point is most of the world loves this sport exactly like
it is. So you (and many americans) may find soccer as exciting as figure skating. Nothing wrong with that.
But another fact is most people around the globe (even some people in the US) will disagree with you on that because
they love this game just like it is and because of that there is NO NEED to change anything in this game.
So many people in the US don´t like soccer or don´t like
the rules? Ok fine then don´t watch it (no offence). But the World will not change the game or the rules only to make a few people happy because serious it has really little to no influence on soccer if people in the US like it or not. If you like it fine watch it, if you find it boring (This would be like baseball for most of us ;-) Fine just don´t watch it. Most people are fine with soccer the way it is (and this includes referees,no video evidence... and a few goals and somethimes even a draw ;-)
Same could be said about “american football” Does it have any impact on your sport that most of europe has little
to no interesst in this sport? I guess not. Would you change
the rules just to make a few europeans happy?
Same is about soccer.
