It may be on your end. Mine is working great.
Try a reboot.
I haven’t had much trouble today, but over past few days it was down a lot. Very annoying.
FreeRepublic is having problem with one of their servers. They reside at IP addresses:
209.157.64.201 (Having Problems)
209.157.64.200
If your DNS decodes to the .201, it will probably be problematic. You can enter the hardcoded IP address as a temporary fix. This is not advised since they could change their hardware IP addresses and it also eliminates cross hunting.
As stated earlier (but not explained) you should try flushing your DNS cache as shown below:
Enter the Command Prompt: (Start/Program/Accessories/Command Prompt).
Enter: ipconfig /flushdns (Enter)
Close window and enter “www.freerepublic.com” and it should resolve. If that does not work, you can temporarily use the hard coded IP address (.200) until the problems are resolved.
I was having the same problem 3 weeks ago. I could not get on Free Republic or Breitbart but everything else was okay. Slow but okay.
I had to reset my wireless router. Something had burped and the router was blocking those sites.
I have since replaced that router with a new 802.11N router.
It does sound like it is on your end as I am having no problems.
Clear your History. Hubby had to do that for me before I could access FR today. This was a fired server. There are 4 servers, 2 handle data, 2 handle the site. 1 can’t handle the load from what I’ve read on other post.
