Sugar is bad, fructose or sucrose. If one or the other were fed at the same levels, I susspect results would be similar.

Transfats are, I believe, smoke and mirrors to hide the adverse effect of veggie oils (Omega 6’s) from corn, soy, etc. These oils are bad and cause all the problems blamed on transfats. You cannot have transfats unless you first have the Omega 6’s.

There is already a natural combination of antioxidants and herbs to repair seriously damaged livers, and I suspect they would be effective in treating livers damaged by fructose/sucrose and transfats/Omega 6’s. We use alpha lipoic acid, selenium and sylimarin effectively. This will repair livers damaged by tylenol or poison mushrooms that otherwise would require liver transplant.
