OK, this doesn’t give any information. Was the police chief’s son the officer or one of the guys doing the shooting? Who wrote this, a ten year old?

I think they’re still trying to figure out what happened.

Not the son and not sure if he was the one shooting at Officer Shaw.

....The slain police officer was identified this morning as Craig Shaw, a five-year veteran of the force and a member of its regional tactical team. ...

Dallas police officials confirmed late Sunday night that 27-year-old David O’Neal Brown Jr. was among the dead. It was unclear whether he was shot in the initial incident or in the officer-involved shooting.

The other man who was killed was identified as 23-year-old Jeremy Jontae McMillan, the Dallas County medical examiner’s office said early Monday morning.

Investigators did not say whether they believe the Lancaster officer was killed by Brown or by McMillan.

“A police officer and two other men, including Dallas Police Chief David Brown’s adult son, were fatally shot Sunday night....”

“Dallas police officials confirmed late Sunday night that 27-year-old David O’Neal Brown Jr. was among the dead. It was unclear whether he was shot in the initial incident or in the officer-involved shooting.”

As per the article (which was clearer than the terrible headline), the Dallas Police Chief’s son was not a police officer, but one of the “two other men” who were shot and killed. It isn’t clear whether the son was shot before or after the police officer got to the scene.

It took a double reading for me too. As I understand the article, a police officer and two other men were slain. The article identifies the police officer as Chris Shaw. I conclude that the Chief's son was not an officer.

But now it gets murky. It is confusing if Brown, the Chief's son was involved or was a victim in the initial report of a shooting, or if he shot the officer who responded to the call, and was then shot by the other officer.

I'm going to speculate:

In the first call, Brown was shot and killed.

Officers responded, and Officer Shaw was shot and killed.

An officer returned fire, killing the shooter who killed Brown and Officer Shaw.

I was thinking the same thing. Then I thought maybe I hadn’t had enough coffee this morning. It reads like something a 4th grader would write.
