I’ve had some wonderful dogs in my life and a few sorry good for nothing relatives. I’ll take the dogs any day.
Ill agree that dogs for the most part are faithful. They wont borrow money and not pay you back. They wont have an affair with your wife. And they wont borrow your favorite CD and leave it in a hot car to warp.
But then dogs dont care about such things. Dogs will steal your slice of pizza off the coffee table when you get up and go to the bathroom. Dogs will get in the garbage can and spread trash all over the living room. Dogs will pee on your white walls. Dogs dig in your flower beds and roll around in a dead skunk.
Dogs and people have different faults which are part of their nature.
Dogs wont come over and help you put on a new roof. Dogs wont drive you to the doctor. Dogs wont visit you in the hospital (usually and if they do some family member brought them). Dogs wont listen to your stories every time you visit and laugh at the appropriate times.
Pets are great and I love them, they are a blessing of God but they are not people and they are not family. To treat then as such diminishes humanity.
