Thought to be on life support so very recently, the Big 12, in the eyes of Jerry Jones, should expand. [Jones], owner of the Dallas Cowboys, former University of Arkansas football player and big-time power broker in the world of professional and now college athletics, is the driving force behind a potential move that would make the Big 12 the most compelling conference in the history of college football. Jones, according to a source familiar with his thinking, wants his alma mater to play in a league with former Southwest

Arkansas’s not dreaming of leaving the premier football conference to join the Big 12.

Jerry's gotten hold of some bad drugs.

The only way Arkansas would go to the Big 12 after all they endured as the only non-Texas school in the old Southwest Conference is if they were on drugs too.

They were the example Tom Osborne held up to voice his opposition to the merger of the Big 8 and the SWC to form the Big 12.

ND, what can I SAY? They belong in the Big 10 IMO.

Maybe Jerry should join up with T Boone Pickens and start a league of senile texas billionaires who rarely haven’t had a cogent thought since the last millenium.

Jones is just grasping at financial straws because 10 teams means no conference championship game in his new palace. UofTexas dictating the location of the conference championship game and making sure it was always going to be in their backyard was one of the main reasons Colorado and Nebraska left the conference.

I can't help but wonder if either of the two teams would have stayed in the Big 12 had they been dominating the conference like Nebraska did when they were the biggest, strongest, meanest program in all of college football. Remember when the Cornhuskers defeated Miami and absolutely annihilated two Southeastern Conference teams — Florida and Tennessee –on the way to winning three national titles in the 1990s? And remember when Colorado was a major player in college football?

Hmmm, I can't help but wonder

Jones denies Big 12 talks with Arkansas

By Calvin Watkins

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, through team officials, denied talking to the University of Arkansas about a move to the Big 12.

Rich Dalrymple, Cowboys vice president of public relations, said Thursday that Jones also denied a newspaper report that he wanted Notre Dame to join the Big 12.

Jones’ son, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones, was asked Wednesday how the Arkansas program differs today from when he played there in 1989. In the KXAS-TV interview, he said that Arkansas fits as a natural rival in the Big 12 and that two coaches in the football program told him the percentage of players on the team from the state of Texas has dwindled from 60 to 10.

Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the school has “no interest” in joining another conference and that the school is happy in the SEC.
