Amy Bishop has been charged with murder for the 1986 shotgun slaying of her 18-year-old brother in their Braintree home, according to a source directly involved with the inquiry.
A Norfolk County grand jury indicted Bishop, 45, on a single count of first-degree murder, the source said. She faces life imprisonment without the possibility of parole if convicted of killing Seth Bishop.
The slaying of Seth Bishop was declared an accident by Norfolk County authorities at the time. But questions were raised about the investigation after Bishop, a college professor, was charged in February in a shooting rampage at the University of Alabama Huntsville. Three of Bishops' colleagues were fatally shot and three wounded in that case.
(1986 Braintree High School yearbook) Seth BishopShortly after the Alabama shootings, current Norfolk County District Attorney William R. Keating launched a review of the Braintree slaying and concluded that Bishop should have been charged at the time with assault with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition. Keating also found that police reports, along with crime scene photos, suggested Bishop may have intentionally shot her brother. One photo of her bedroom, where she had loaded the 12-gauge shotgun, showed a National Enquirer article chronicling actions similar to Bishop's that day. The article reported that a teenager wielding a 12-gauge shotgun killed the parents of actor Patrick Duffy, who played Bobby Ewing on the television show, "Dallas," and then commandeered a getaway car at gunpoint from an auto dealership.

Maybe this is what the BATF should focus on.
24 years and several lives late.
NOW they do it.
They could’ve done this years ago, before she got the chance to kill again. But now that it’s become public knowlege, they go back and charge her in an attempt to cover their asses.
Justice delayed is justice denied; but, better late than never for this psychotic mook.
Delahunt was the D.A. in charge of the case. I would like to see him dragged through the mud.
This reminds me of that Joran Vander slootie whatever his name is.
He should have been rotting away in a jail cell for the last 5 years. The investigators screw around and in that case unfortunately the animal ended up killing someone else.
Rotting? Yes.
Jail? No.
Plenty of family members could have ended this and nobody would have looked or cared.
Very sad it took this long, sadder still that she took more lives.
Apparently her mother was on the board that made hiring and compensation decisions for the police and was tight with the police chief. He actually ordered the arresting officers to release her and had a detective submit an “investigation” report weeks later calling it an accidental shooting.
She can serve her time after she is executed in Alabama. The good citizens of Alabama will not use kid gloves on her. She has a date with needle in her future.
Indeed...I have been following this closely. I think Delahunt’s DA’s office looks culpable, but the state police may get off ok; their claim was that the local cops never put in the carjacking in their report. Interesting how this will play out...the guy who will really get reamed is the guy who was police chief at the time. And, deservedly so...
Is Delahunt running? Seems to be he now has a hand in the deaths of three people. Along with Amy Bishop’s mother.
Nope. He decided to retire after seven terms.
I believe he pulled out of race several months ago...Brown’s win made him soil his pants.
This is not so much Massachusetts coming to their senses as it is a play to keep her from being executed. I think they know their case in Alabama is open and shut. They'll argue that since she did the crime in Mass first she should do the time in Mass first. Please don't send her back here; take care of business in Alabama.
MA politics. Pathetic but then another murdering piece of trash got away with murdered and was elected senator many times.
LOL! Will be interesting to see who gets elected in that district. I’m sure Amy Bishop will come up again.
Now that is just some crackerjack law enforcement right there.
