Then all he could think about was getting rid of Dr. Richard Kimble’s wife.

I rememeber a guy in Utah who had his arm caught in some rocks in some remote canyon in the middle of no where doing the same thing and then walking out.

Tough thing for this guy to go through and kudo’s for him trying. I would rather die trying then die not. To bad if the trying part that kills you. Life is short

I wonder if he would still have his arm if he had waited...

I would have waited a little longer than 12 hours

Being in a remote Utah canyon is one thing, but being in one’s own house is quite another.

It was only 12 hours.
He was far from dying.

Sounds like he had a panic attack like an animal caught in a trap would do.

“I would have waited a little longer than 12 hours

He could have tried screaming like a little girl about to killed by an axe murderer, but his manly pride probably thought it was easier to hack his arm off.

And we wonder why men won’t ask for directions, LOL.

“Metz’s arm had become caught between heating cores inside the boiler on Monday. Within hours, Metz, 31, could smell the flesh of his crushed arm beginning to rot, the telltale sign of life-threatening infection.

“Very quickly it became apparent to me I had a major problem,” he said.”

He said he had to use a telephone cord to fashion a second tourniquet...

I'm no McGyver, but maybe he could have called someone...

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - With no water and as little hope of survival, Aspen mountaineer Aron Ralston, 27, used a pocketknife to amputate his own arm and free himself from a boulder weighing 800-1,000 pounds that fell and trapped him for five days in a remote desert canyon in eastern Utah.

Pinned in a 3-foot wide slot canyon near the Maze District of Canyonlands National Park south of Moab, Utah, Ralston cut through his own arm below the elbow Thursday morning, applying a tourniquet and administering first aid before rigging anchors and fixing a rope to rappel to the bottom of Blue John Canyon and hiking out to meet rescuers. Ralston had been hiking alone when the boulder fell and pinned his right arm as he was moving through the narrow slot last Saturday afternoon, according to information from the sheriff's offices in Emery and Wayne counties.

"Ralston cut through his own arm below the elbow Thursday..."

Ralston told rescuers that on Thursday morning he realized he would not survive unless he took drastic action. He had run out of water on Tuesday.

Ok, here is when you cut your arm off. Considerably different than 12 hours in you own basement.

The guy lost an arm, so it is entirely possible that photo caption fun is inappropriate and will get me sent to hell, but here goes...

Within hours? It usually takes longer than that. I forget how long the guy in Utah was trapped before his fingers turned black. It was days though, not hours.

I just saw that movie for the third or fouth time two days ago. What was hilariously different this time was I noticed one of the celebrity walk byes or appearances. At the beginning of the St Patricks Day parade, Roland Burris, Obama’s then future senate replacement:)
