It takes a certain amount of humility to be an agnostic. One has to admit there are things one doesn’t know. I’ve never seen a hint of humility in Obama. Rather, I see the arrogant sophomore who knows it all, and doesn’t mind admitting it. Fwiw.

True. On the other hand, as William James once noted, it takes a lot of and backbone to be atheist. I don't think he's got it.

In light of this, I'd say he's probably neither an atheist nor an agnostic. Like many people of his social class, he's unwilling to give up on the idea of God, but he's also unwilling to submit himself to the rules of any organized religion.

In other words, he wants the comfort of religion without any of the rigor. He's sort of a half-baked theist for who simply doesn't take religion very seriously.
