Penn & Teller showed exactly such ADA abuse in their BS show, season 5, episode 7.

Quit your griping and be thankful you don’t need one.

Welcome to an internet forum where users render their opinions.

My opinion is that most of the people who have handicapped cards or hang-tags don’t need them.

Lazy is as lazy does.

Ok, it was 7am in the morning. There are sixteen handicapped spaces in front of the Kroger with two spaces for non-handicapped individuals. There was no expected rush of handicapped grocery shoppers expected and the person that owned the car was the handicapped individual. The handicapped person was discourteous IMO and I have found that many handicapped consider themselves also above common courtesy. Ever notice how the shoppers in the motorized carts push themselves over on folks and block aisles needlessly?

Eberle, whose husband is an attorney, filed the court complaint on her own, representing herself.

(Her husband's law license was recently suspended for four months over two shoplifting cases, according to an order from the Supreme Judicial Court in December).

Normally, filing such a complaint costs $275, plus an additional charge for sending notice to the opposing party. According to the case docket, Eberle filed a sealed affidavit saying she was unable to afford the filing fees, which were then waived by a judge.

Parking in a handicapped spot is by far the most expensive type of parking violation in Danvers.

The next-highest violation, parking at a hydrant, warrants a $25 ticket. Had Eberle parked in the fire lane in front of the store, the ticket would have been $15.

Hmmm??? Interesting???

The whole handicapped space thing is BS...Doctors give anyone that asks authorization for that..

Look at places like Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart....They've got 2 or 3 dozen parking bays for handicapped spaces for Gods sake...

What have we become? A country of people so screwed up, so lazy, that millions now demands to have parking close to the front door of the store?

How are they possibly able to shop?

It's become ridicules like everything else....

Having a handicapped plate or hang-tag has become a status symbol. “Look at me I’m important.” Most don’t need them and many are just fat and lazy. The symbol is of someone in a wheelchair, if you don’t need one you shouldn’t be parking there.

Funny you should say that...We've made our own study out of this... 95 percent of the time, you won't see anyone in a wheelchair use these spaces....

Instead, ya see people exist their vehicles, not a wheelchair in sight, and walk perfectly right into the store....lol

Did you ever notice that handicapped drivers drive like they are?

The people I actually know that have them are legit. But my circle does not extend all that far. I do hope, and I am not being snotty- that you never need a handicap tag. And an added afterthought- when I get myself into a store, I go get what I came for - I do not cruise the mall. At this point I do not need the dumb (sigh) electric cart to shop, but I have in the past and have that potential for the future.

But if it makes you feel better I will take the fat lazy label so you can have a good day.

We were at a concert this weekend where they bragged about being ADA compliant even though it was at the end of an 8 mile gravel road in the middle of the Flint Hills.

“I have a handicap sticker. And I call the police whenever I see a non-handicap marked vehicle in a handicap space.”

I drive a severly handicapped stroke patient to go shopping. When we take my truck, we park there. I have no “magic sticker” like you claim. You are a self-appointed hall monitor.

Many more “stickered” autos use the spots when there are no handicapped people aboard.

In fact, I almost never see a handicapped person exit a “stickered” car.

If I get a “magic sticker” and park there when my friend is not with me, I guess that’s ok with you. Please, with all due respect, you’re a jerk.

Yeah you pushed a button- evidently not intentionally. But it really hit me wrong, Too many people fail to realize not all physical disabilities are obvious. My problems come primarilly from finding a herd of 250 cattle in the middle of the road in the middle of the night years ago. That was much more of a life changing event than the brain tumor years later.

At any rate- I will work on burying buttons so they are harder to push.

“Watch what you say before you lump everyone into one category..not fair.”

I try to remember that for some of the folks that use the handicap parking spots. “Oh - he probably has a heart condition.” “Maybe he has shrapnel that if he walks to much it will dislodge and travel up his artery”. “Maybe he just had a hip replacement”.

I really do think those things to keep my temper down when I see some younger guy or gal hop out of their fancy sports car and walk into the store with no visible sign of discomfort or difficulty.
