She hasn't proved she can do it yet. I really don't think her parents or anyone else has any idea just what she is facing out on the high seas. If anyone has ever seen Deadliest Catch, that might be just an inkling of what its like.
Thank God TV is there to capture the rough seas of the North Pacific and Bering Seas where the majority of our weather systems are fired-up.
Good lord woman...she has been on the high seas since January....she has sailed around the tips of South America (Cape Horn) and Africa (Cape of Good Hope) already on this trip. Her older brother, at age 16-17 solo-circumnavigated the world recently. You act like these parents just went out and bought her a boat and said "good luck". I think they knew what they were doing but "sh## happens"...like a 60 foot wave. Some of the best/greatest adventures/explorers in the world have died...it goes with the territory. I agree...it would be "safer" if we kept all of our children at the 'Y' and playing video games at home with mommy fixing them a peanut butter and jelly sandwich in the background.....geez.
You are making a huge (and wrong) assumption that her parents and/or "anyone else" are necessarily as ignorant about the "high seas" as you so obviously are.
