LIMA, Peru (AP) - For all of his garrulous charm, Joran van der Sloot didn't do himself any favors in his online interactions, where his generation tends to reveal a lot about itself. "If I would have to describe myself as an animal it would be a snake," he wrote on his YouTube page. Perhaps wistfully wishing the past undone, he continued: "however, I want to be a lion and one day I will be a lion."
At age 22, Van der Sloot is now a caged animal. He sits in a bleak third-world prison, where he fears his fellow inmates. After requesting isolation, he shares a cellblock with a reputed Colombian murderer-for-hire.
Van der Sloot's journey from the quiet comfort of Aruba to being escorted briskly in handcuffs past Peruvian crowds screaming "murderer" is a tale of dissolution, deception and increasing desperation, according to friends and people who have chronicled his life.

Perhaps they had sex before that time, prior to that night, but at that particular time, according to the Peruvian authorities, she did not have sex. However, when she came up to him at the poker table in the casino, she already knew him, so they may have had sex prior to that night. It's just that, as of that night of the murder, she did not have sex.

Yeah, it would be kinda difficult to conceive of a committed "Christian" committing a murder like that. I'm sure it wouldn't be unknown, but it would definitely be rare.
To me, the thing that mitigates against this being a spontaneous “crime of passion,” is that it happened on the exact 5th anniversary of Natalie’s dieappearance and presumed death. I believe that it was planned. I think he was just that arrogant. I think he thought he could get away with it.

I read the article. It’s possible you place more faith in the honesty of a self described pathological liar than I do. I find Joran’s account weak and slanted toward a self defense angle (I doubt there are many women who would, upon hearing that the 6’ 3” beast as said to have murdered a woman, then strike him) So I am indeed speculating about possible scenarios because I don’t believe the words of the psychopath. He needed money - he played online poker with her - from there, I doubt we’ll ever know the truth.
That being said, van der Sloot is the unmistakable, abhorent villain here. I believe that that little worm's "judgment" will always put his base desires before any OTHER human life.
He likes the rapper Notorious B.I.G. and pop singer Katy Perry, the TV show South Park. He has 160 kills in the game "Mob Wars" and likes "Pissing in random places when totally drunk/wasted," Texas Hold'em Poker, Heineken beer and Barack Obama.
Sounds like this fellow would generate an extra chapter in an updated
version of the book titled “The Sociopath Next Door”.
Yes, I agree with that. I will say that it took me a long time to develope good judgment, and sometimes I still wonder. I can’t imagine what it must be like to grow up today where judging and judgment is frowned upon. If one cannot judge the difference between right and wrong, between good and evil, the one is truly lost, much like Joran.
I'm wondering if this worm even has the mechanism of "shame" in his sick/soul-less being.

The man striding along on the Johnny Walker Red label is probably Joran's inside joke that "he walked" in the Holloway case, and the powerboat references the way they took Natalee's body out to sea.
Sociopaths are always doing these little inside jokes about their misdeeds.
