Joran van der Sloot, charged with first-degree murder and robbery, is reportedly scared and depressed, in his jail, according to local dailies Peru21 and Trome.
He does not have access to anything. He may have thought he was going to arrive to a golden prison. He has slept on a matress on the floor, say local press reports.
The cell where he is jailed is the former punishment cell, known as the tin, which is isolated from the other wards and is located near the prevention area, where the only ones who can access are the Director of the prison and the agents.
The cell is 3x2.5m, and is equipped with a basic latrine and lavatory.
Since he fears for his life, by the moment he is not being given the same meals as the other inmates, but the ones that the prison’s workers have while on duty.
It's being reported that "basic latrine" is just a bucket in the corner of his cell...grins.
