My best pal's father, a former U.S. Army Forward Observer/Sniper who served at and IN the ROK/DPRK De-militarized Zone in 1968, asked where the men were after seeing Red Dawn for the first time in 1984.

Good question since they all could not have been captured and locked up in the Colorado gulag, especially the veterans.

...good question. Maybe it was a liberal area of Colorado? that they were operating and the native males were all cooperating.

In such a situation, I expect the men who were inclined to defend their country would have tried to escape the occupied zone to join (or rejoin) the military.
