He's made his name as an overweight, larger-than-life character throughout his Hollywood career.
But the pounds have been falling off portly actor John Goodman as he showed off a slimmer physique at an awards ceremony in Los Angeles last night.
The 57-year-old, who was rumoured to weigh 28 stone 18months ago, looked almost half the man he was just under a year ago as he attended the AFI Life Achievement Award party.

Now, if I could shrink my waist some...a waist is a horrible thing to mind.
I like Goodman he looks great. I think he is underrated. Have no idea how he leans but I wish him well
Good for him. I always liked his work.
Good for him!
Wow... thats got to be 100 lb drop.. good on him!
Good for him.. He’s toted some poundage over the years..
This might open up some roles for him.
392 lbs. for us yanks.
Several years ago he lost a tremendous amount of weight and managed to gain it all back ... hope he does better this time.
He does look really good. I’ve always loved his voice. I never liked Arnold or Stallone because of their voices.
He’s still a huge whacko leftist. I could care less about him.
He’s looking good. I’m really happy when people lose that much weight, it’s inspirational for everyone who is battling a weight problem.
I didn’t know he smoked, though.
I guess that is the reason he could stand to be on the same show with Roseanne. She is in the same pig catogory as Joy Behar.
Now appearing in Treme on HBO at the higher weight.
In today's Hollywood, that speaks to (at least) a modicum of fundamental decency. He's an actor- not Confucius- and one who can see that in himself to the extent that he (or she) keeps their personal opinions personal, displays a degree of perspective that's rare, indeed.
Even if he's a Leftist- that's positive.
John is not just working on his waist line these days. He is doing the tough work and clearly it is paying off. Good for you John! Keep it up my FRiend one day at a time.
Some improvement but he’s still a lard ass!
He was great in Barton Fink with John Turturro.
