BSU accepts invite to Mountain West Conference

Boise State University has accepted an invitation to join the Mountain West Conference in 2011. Boise State, currently a Western Athletic Conference member, would become the Mountain West Conference's 10th member. The move would be effective July 1, 2011.

It’s Kansas. They could put together a great schedule as a BB independent.

If that were true then Notre Dame wouldn't be playing in the Big East. Sorry, in college basketball Independents are Independents because they can't find a league to take them.

As long as the Mtn West doesn’t lose Utah, then this is a great move (and it still would be even if the Utes move). If the Mtn WEst could add two other Big 12 teams (KU, KSU, Baylor, etc), this would give them 12 teams and a strong argument for an automatic bid to the BCS.

And as a BSU grad, this has so much more upside then staying in the WAC.

Didn’t take you dissing them. Going to a larger conference, I suspect they will fall off a little because the recruiting will become more difficult for them.

BSU fits nicely in the MWC, and brings both closer to the BCS(as bad as it is).
