If he'd planned on killing her, his own hotel room would rank among the worst possible places. Lima's plentiful beaches are probably just as deserted late at night as those in Aruba. And, although a boat might have been harder to procure, I'm sure the sharks are just as hungry.
His story is probably basically true. Psycho that he is, he flew into a rage when she asked him about something she found on the laptop.
Those circumstances carry a much lighter sentence than murder during robbery or murder for pleasure.
Won't matter. He'll land in a stinking Peruvian can. Then one day not too far into his sentence, he'll be found dead in his blood-spattered cell. The authorities won't have a clue, but shortly thereafter, a couple of tough guys will win early release for good behavior.
There are many problems/holes in his story.
I don’t know why you would think his story is basically true. He has never told the truth one time and his changed his story about Natalee over and over. His story here is clearly contrived to fit the evidence, and let’s not forget that it took place on the exact 5th anniversary of Natalee’s death.
Two girls went missing from casinos in Columbia while Joran was there. Investigators from Bogota are en route to Lima now. But hey, maybe they, too, were snooping, got caught, attacked Joran and he had to kill them in a rage, too.
I don’t know about you, but I always break the neck of anybody I find snooping, bash their head into a wooden bed frame, beat them with a tennis racket until at least one eye is bludgeoned from its socket, and then I make sure to rob them on my way out the door. They shouldn’t have been snooping. By jove, that’ll teach ‘em a lesson!! But people never get beaten when they’re robbed or when they refuse to give up their debit card PIN and their jewelry. That never happens. (roll eyes)
Occam’s Razor.
