In my experience, there are more overhyped "CAN'T FAIL!" books about/approaches to creating a "correct" resume than there are resumes.
But I think there are some universal features for every resume, especially in this computer age where a recruiter may rely on OCR'd or digital versions of resumes that meet his/her search terms:
- YOUR FULL NAME/ADDRESS/E-MAIL ADDRESS (make sure the e-mail address is something business appropriate, not "sexyd00d69", unless you're looking for a gig in the pr0n industry
- PROFESIONAL GOAL: Tailor this to the job you're applying for
- RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: Include company names, dates, your position and brief description of what you did. Accentuate those tasks that you did which are relevant to the job you're applying for
- KEEP IT SIMPLE/PROFESSIONAL: Neat bullet points, no colored/unicorn stationery
