thank God... soda pop with this corn syrup crap, is just garbage.. I used to love Coke, until they added the corn syrup.. lot’s of altnertives, I realize that, but still, I’d like to see the move back to Cane Sugar.

YEp, this is one more thing I’m reading on food ingredient lists:
If it says “High Fructose corn syrup”, or “Partially hydrogenated”, it has a high probability of not going in the shopping cart.

Beet sugar would be nice too. Beets are easy to grow, and the mush left from the extraction process makes a good livestock feed. I've read that the reason more farmers grow corn instead of beets was due to the mechanization issue, but couldn't the equipment used for carrots be modified to work on sugar beets? Most sugar beets are kind enough to stick their heads out of the soil, making them easy for the machine to grab.
Been thinking about that for a while now, started as part of my prepper planning. I have sugar beets planted now just to experiment with.
