DETROIT (AP) -- Armando Galarraga of the Detroit Tigers lost his bid for a perfect game Wednesday night with two outs in the ninth inning on a disputed call at first base. Replays appeared to show Cleveland hitter Jason Donald was out.
Tigers manager Jim Leyland immediately argued the call with first base umpire Jim Joyce, and was joined by several Detroit players who surrounded the ump after the Tigers beat the Indians 3-0.

Baseball needs replay. This guy just ensured the extinction of the umpire.

The batter was clearly out! I am not a Detroit fan, but Galarraga deserved his Perfecto! These umpires stink and are arrogant! Maybe this will lead to a much needed instant replay process to get these calls correct.

whats worst is there’s never been three perfect games in a season...we’ve had two so far this year....your right it was a s*** call, was out by a mile....this is going to be sports page headlines tomorrow....UMP has now become the story.

That really sucks. Galarraga showed some real class. I’m watching to hear what Leyland has to say.

in the ‘good old days’ the ‘arbitrators’ did a heck of a job remaining out of things as best as possible. now, along with the rest of society evidently, they want the limelight, look at me etc. the arrogant assholes. replay from here on in damn it.

Leyland is saying “Jimmy is a good umpire but he’s wrong and that’s the way it goes.”

If you were that kid who pitched his balls off for 9 innings, you'd probably feel differently. He (to his credit) handled it like a true professional.

I still am PO’d at Don Deckinger for blowing the call at first base and letting Kansas City beat St. Louis in Game 6 of the 85 World Series. The same as every Cardinal fan in the world.
