Dear Boy Friend, DN-Dear (BF’s) Nephew.
I don’t know where you’re located, but in some larger metropolitan areas, the shelters are really well-organized about this, putting photos and searchable descriptions in a central online system, so that an inquiry at one shelter will yield results from all shelters in the area. I think they mainly do this for animals actually turned in to a shelter, but some may also do it for animals being housed by the finder.
Nice to hear it all worked out. I figured it wouldn’t be an issue given a little time :)
"Yeah, if this cat is claimed by an owner, or DN moves out , we probably will find out that we've given our heart not just to dogs to tear, but to a cat as well. So be it."
So be it for you.....but I think your doggies breaking heart will have MUCH more of an effect than you realize.
I make my "prediction" now.......THAT CAT WILL BECOME PART OF YOUR FAMILY AND YOU WILL NEVER LET HER GO. If not for you, for your beloved doggies.....who will mourn the lost of their "sister".
I really don’t know HOW they’ll react, if they lose their cat friend! I remember when I bought a miniature dachshund female to keep my male standard dachshund company. I thought they were getting along OK but when she was sent away for an over the weekend vet stay, he was visibly delighted at her absence . Then when we brought her back home after 4 days , he looked like the last shreds of his will to live just shriveled up and died. Maybe they run around the house crying, if she leaves-maybe they’ll be happy at the loss of competition. Dogs are funny creatures, and dachshunds and chihuahuas are about the quirkiest of them all.
I just want you to be prepared. Sounds like your little doggies already love the cat and perhaps vise-versa.
If you haven't already caught on, I am PRAYING you keep the kitty!!!! Sorry, but it sounds like your little pups love her already. I just HATE separation!
But if it must happen, my heart is with you and your family (((hug))).
If an owner responds , we’ll have to let her go-but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t hoping no owner turns up in response to our efforts. She is a remarkably sweet , playful cat, and the dogs seem to have a new lease on life, with her around. I hope they’ll start really playing together, and maybe sleeping in a cat-and-dog pile.
My DBF’s nephew
?????
Just say CHHHHHHH
Works for Cesar Millan
Fortunately for you, I don’t think the “owner” will show up. That’s how I received my 3rd cat. Yes, I have 3!!! I only wanted one, but the 2nd one, Mary, came to me as a tiny kitten who just barely fit into the palm of my hand and it was either I take her or the pound does!
Mimi, the 3rd, was obviously an owned kitty, with his brother Red who showed up in my back yard. Of course I started feeding them so I instantly became Mommy!
My mom took Red and I took in Mimi (who is actually a boy, but had girl qualities, hence the name Mimi).
It was hell the 1st month of taking her/him in. However, now Mary (the 2nd) has a playmate to wrestle with, instead of my elder Kitty (she’ll be 19 this summer). I nicknamed Kitty “skelator” because she is now all skin and bones, but thankfully nothing more.
Sounds like your dogs have a new sister....whom they probably already love and enjoy having around. I say good luck to your nephew trying to pry that cat from your “cold dead hands”!!!!!! Lol!
Thanks for letting us know! I learned a lot!
He’s just so cute!
Did you ever see such a bunch of adorable animals?
Amazing how they all get along.
Very well done video, by the way.
